“Game of Thrones” season 8 will be here next year after a relatively long hiatus. The blockbuster TV series aired its seventh season finale, titled “The Lion and the Wolf,” in August 2017 and it left viewers with a cliffhanger puzzle to solve.
“Game of Thrones” season 8 was confirmed by HBO but it will be the series' final run. Now, one of the things that fans want to know is whether the two beloved characters Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer) and Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) really died when the Wall crashed onto them after a resurrected dragon called Viserion destroyed it.
There were many shocking deaths in "Game of Thrones" season 7 finale and fans are hoping that these two have survived. Now, it seems that the fans’ wish has been granted.
A report from Insider revealed that Beric and Tormund were able to get out alive from the rubble. They ran away from the massive destruction of the Wall that came crashing down on them.
This claim is based on the season 7 script that was released to the public. The copy of the document was published online when the “Game of Thrones” season 7 finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf,” was submitted to the 2018 Emmys for evaluation as it competes for awards.
The full episode script is now available for reading and fans can read it to confirm that the two said characters are indeed alive and will probably appear in “Game of Thrones” season 8.
The part that validated the fate of Beric and Tormund reads, “Tormund and Beric lead their wildling comrades to the stairs carved in the ice — Eastwatch has a massive zigzag stairway, not an elevator like Castle Black. They run for their lives and disappear from view.”
Another spoiler for “Game of Thrones” season 8 is about Jon Snow (Kit Harington) having a twin. According to Express, after learning that he is the true heir to the throne, fans theorized that he may also have a sibling and this could be a major plot twist in the drama’s finale.
In the last season of “GoT”, it was revealed that Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Aegon Targaryen and this made Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) his aunt.
For this theory, fans explained that only Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) witnessed Jon’s birth so he knows the truth. They suggest that on the night of the birth, two babies may have been delivered instead of one.
Another fan posted on Reddit that Jon having a twin gives more sense to the book’s title “The Song of Ice and Fire” so the theory could have truth to it.
Meanwhile, “Game of Thrones” season 8 is set to return in the first half of 2019, as confirmed by Casey Bloys, HBO’s president of programming.
