Here are some key events to keep a tab on,

  • Israel-Palestine-Jerusalem: United Nations Security Council will vote on Today on an Egyptian proposal that counters President Trump’s move earlier this month to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The draft document, which has been reportedly seen by Reuters doesn’t specifically mention the United States or President Donald Trump but says, “any decisions and actions which purport to have altered the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded in compliance with relevant resolutions of the Security Council.” The text adds, “deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem”, though it doesn’t mention the decision taken by the United States. The document also “demands that all states comply with Security Council resolutions regarding the Holy City of Jerusalem, and not to recognize any actions or measures contrary to those resolutions.”
  • Israel-Gaza military conflict: The Israeli military says it has carried out airstrikes in the Gaza Strip after new rocket attacks from the Palestinian territory. The airstrikes overnight targeted a Hamas training compound in northern Gaza, the military said on Monday.

  • Kremlin-Washington: Kremlin has extended thanks to President Donald Trump and the CIA director Mike Pompeo as an information shared by the United States helped Russia foil a major terrorist attack.

  • China’s military drills: China’s Air Force carried out another round of long-range drills on Monday, flying over the Sea of Japan, and again around Taiwan. The Air Force said that fighter and bomber aircraft flew along the Tsushima Strait separating South Korea from Japan, and over international waters. China’s military described the exercises as routine and pre-planned. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said five Chinese military planes had been spotted entering the Korean air defense identification zone, and that fighter jets were scrambled in response. The Chinese aircraft also flew through Japan’s air defense identification zone.

  • Spain-Catalonia: Catalonia on Thursday will hold regional elections, which are being looked at as a test of support for the independence movement. A win for the pro-independence parties would prove a setback for the central government.
