COVINGTON, La., Nov. 08, 2017 -- Globalstar, Inc. (NYSE American:GSAT) announced today the introduction of Sat-Browse™, a new Internet compression and search engine technology powered by Yippy, Inc. (OTCMKTS:YIPI). Sat-Browse enhances the Internet browsing experience for Globalstar’s satellite subscribers through quick access to text-based information and decreased load times for data from the web or corporate data silos. Supporting multiple languages, Sat-Browse allows users to stay informed when beyond cellular with faster access to news, sports, weather and informational or educational sites.
“With Sat-Browse, customers who rely on satellite based communications will now be able to access web-based information faster and more efficiently through the Globalstar satellite network,” said Jay Monroe, Chief Executive Officer of Globalstar. “With Yippy compression and search engine technology, we are ensuring that data is optimized for delivery over satellite, that the user experience is the same across all devices, and that the service is language agnostic for regional use, collectively resulting in an overall improvement of the customer’s off the grid satellite communications.”
Sat-Browse works seamlessly via the Sat-Fi® app using either Globalstar’s Sat-Fi or 9600 Data Hotspot satellite devices. These products are used by a wide range of customers in industries such as commercial fishing and marine, oil & gas, forestry, mining and construction as well as outdoor sports and recreation. Satellite customers can browse the Internet with greater speed than before with text-based web page content loading in seconds.
Subscribers with an existing Globalstar satellite phone and data cable can utilize their normal data connection to take advantage of the Sat-Browse technology using their existing Internet browser.
“We are happy to work with Globalstar as they officially roll out Yippy’s proprietary compression and search engine technology. Globalstar’s subscribers will now be able to streamline web and document access with the highest level of security while maximizing the available satellite bandwidth for a better overall user experience. We hope to make the world more connected and bridge the gap for those outside terrestrial communications,” said Richard Granville, Chief Executive Officer of Yippy.
The Sat-Fi app is compatible with all iOS and Android powered devices, and is available free for download through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems via downloads from the Globalstar website. The Sat-Browse service is free through January 31, 2018. Visit Globalstar.com for more information and to see the Sat-Browse technology in action.
