Some people who may have just purchased the GoPro HERO8 Black might be feeling down nowadays. They cannot use their new camera for their planned outdoor adventures now that home quarantine measures are in place amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Luckily, GoPro came up with a solution. The action camera manufacturer launched the #HomePro challenge. Those who come up with the best content will win new HERO8 Black or MAX cameras.
GoPro HERO8 Black, Max cameras are top prizes for the #HomePro challenge
The #HomePro challenge kicked off last March 23, but interested participants can still send their entries throughout April. The free GoPro mobile app is required to join because that is where the #HomePro photo or video entries will be submitted.
Through the app, entries should be uploaded to Instagram, Youtube, Facebook or TikTok. The official GoPro social media page on the platform selected must be tagged while #HomePro should be included in the first line of the caption to make sure the photo or video entry qualifies for the contest.
GoPro does not require participants to exclusively use cameras it manufactured to join the #HomePro challenge. Even smartphones can be used to qualify and the GoPro app is equipped with editing tools to increase the chances of winning.
Through April 30, GoPro will be choosing five winning content photos or videos. Creators will then be rewarded with either HERO8 Black or MAX – depending on what they choose – along with a free five-year GoPro PLUS subscription.
The launch of the #HomePro challenge is quite interesting considering that, just last week, questions were raised on the capacity of GoPro to adapt to the ongoing public health crisis. As tech fans know, the HERO8 Black and other GoPro devices are marketed for adventure-seekers to capture their activities mostly done outside. However, the global pandemic has obliged people to stay home for weeks now.
GoPro HERO8 Black specs, features, price
Meanwhile, this contest is a good chance for content creators to get a free HERO8 Black camera without spending $399. It can be argued that this model is the most advanced so far in the action camera market, but that price can also be intimidating.
The HERO8 Black captures videos at 4K@60fps or 1080p@240fps with up to 100MBps bit rate. It also benefits from the upgraded image stabilization technologies developed by GoPro such as HyperSmooth 2.0 and TimeWarp 2.0 that launched last fall.
