The Pixel series tends to get a significant amount of attention before its debut and has difficulty keeping its identities a secret. A fresh leak has provided a sneak glimpse at the considerable enhancements that will be made to the camera sensors of the future Pixel 9 series. Hints have been revealed regarding the 8K video recording capabilities that have finally made their way into the Camera app.
The Google Pixel 9 has garnered much praise from consumers and people passionate about technology for having a fantastic camera suitable for photography. On the other hand, the corporation moves at a snail's pace when it comes to updating the software for the cameras. With the upcoming Pixel 9 series, the business plans to offer some considerable hardware enhancements and other noticeable device changes. This is about to change, as the firm is committed to making these improvements.
Android Authority has revealed that Google is introducing a number of significant enhancements to the camera available on the Pixel 9 series. The ultrawide lens of the Pixel 9 will be upgraded from its predecessor, the Pixel 8. This is because the Sony IMX386 was previously used for the Pixel 8 but is being replaced with a new Sony IMX858. The Pixel 9 will be the base model. In addition to being substantially more significant, the new ultrawide lens could capture photographs of higher quality in various settings, including those with low levels of available light.
The Pixel 9 will have a significant feature long requested for the basic model: the auto-focus enabled front-facing camera that was included on the Pixel 8 Pro. Using this camera would help produce images that are clearer and more defined and reduce problems typically associated with the fixed-focus selfie camera, which typically captures blurry pictures.
In addition, the new Sony IMX858 sensor will be included in the front-facing, telephoto, and ultrawide cameras of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Because larger sensors would assist in obtaining photographs with a higher resolution and a more significant number of information, the results of the selfie cameras would be much improved by the increased sensor in the front-facing camera. The substantial camera sensors often reserved for rear-facing cameras will now be available for use in the front-facing camera of the Pixel 9 Pro, contributing to the device's growing popularity.
Despite its limited applications and being a controversial feature, Google has decided to keep its infrared thermometer, the Melexis MLX90632, attached to the Pixel Pro.
The Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro are not the only devices undergoing modifications; the Fold series will also be subject to some adjustments. The Sony IMX386 will no longer be used for the ultrawide camera on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold; instead, it will be replaced with a Samsung 3LU ultrawide sensor. The Samsung 3K1 will also be used for the digital camera on the front of the device. Although this may appear to be a decrease in quality, it is a result that the Pixel foldable is now 2 millimeters thinner than the original Pixel Fold.
According to the information that has been provided, the following are the specifications of the camera sensors that will be included in the Pixel 9 series:
Google Pixel 9
- Primary Sensor: Samsung GNK
- Ultra Wide Camera: Sony IMX858
- Front-Facing Camera: Samsung 3J1
Google Pixel 9 Pro and Google Pixel 9 Pro XL
- Primary Sensor: Samsung GNK
- Ultrawide, Telephoto, Front Facing Sensor: Sony IMX858
- Infrared Thermometer: Melexis MLX90632
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
- Ultrawide Sensor: Samsung 3LU
- Front-facing camera: Samsung 3K1
Not only will the next Pixel 9 series receive improvements to its camera hardware, but it will also have capabilities for recording 8K video at 30 frames per second within its Camera app. This advancement has the potential to dramatically improve the clarity and details of the content by producing high-resolution films. The Pixel 9 series will be presented to the public at the Made by Google event that will take place the following month, and as the date of the event draws nearer, we may see additional details emerge.
