Grab Philippines, in collaboration with BYD Cars Philippines, is launching a pilot study to evaluate the integration of electric vehicles in NCR's ride-hailing industry, involving a select group of Grab driver-partners testing the BYD Dolphin.
Grab and BYD Launch Pilot Study to Evaluate Electric Vehicles in NCR's Ride-Hailing Sector
In a significant collaboration with BYD Cars Philippines, Grab Philippines is embarking on a pilot study of utmost importance. According to Manila Standard, this study not only aims to evaluate the viability of integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into the digital ride-hailing sector but also holds the potential to reshape the future of our industry. They are excited about the possibilities this study can unlock.
A select group of Grab driver-partners, chosen for their expertise and commitment, will have the unique and significant opportunity to evaluate the BYD Dolphin over a month as part of this pilot study. This participation will provide them with valuable insights into the potential benefits of EVs in their operations and make them an integral part of this transformative journey.
It will analyze the primary operational and economic implications of employing electric vehicles as TNVS vehicles.
The EV pilot study will commence in Bonifacio Global City, Makati City, Pasay City, and Mandaluyong City, utilizing these areas' existing EV charging infrastructure.
“Grab is fully dedicated to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 and critical to this is the inclusion of low or zero-emission vehicles in our fleet,” Grab Philippines head of Mobility RJ Dela Vega said.
“Through this pilot study, we aim to formulate strategic recommendations around the effective integration of electric vehicles in ride-hailing fleets as we proactively co-engineer a more sustainable Philippine mobility ecosystem with all transport stakeholders,” he said.
ACMobility and Grab's Pilot Study Aims to Electrify Local Ride-Hailing and Promote Sustainable Mobility
The head of Retail and Distribution at ACMobility, Toti Zara, is sure that the collaborative pilot study with Grab is a substantial step toward resolving these obstacles. Ayala's automotive and mobility infrastructure division is known as ACMobility.
Zara stated that the partnership is a critical stage in facilitating the electrification of local ride-hailing.
“The results of these end-to-end trials will help us create an ecosystem-wide approach to accelerating the adoption of sustainable mobility in our country. We are glad to be pioneering this landmark study with Grab, who share our passion for safe and efficient transportation that is friendlier to our environment,” Zara said.
To prepare for the deployment of the EVs in the GrabCar fleet, the BYD Cars Philippines team conducted a specialized training session with the dedicated group of Grab driver partners.
