Hancom Group has acquired a local firm InSpace Co. to tap deeper into satellite-related services and drone businesses.
The group did not reveal the value of the deal.
Hancom, South Korea's leading office software developer, plans to combine InSpace's drone technology with its internet of Things (IoT) and autonomous driving solutions to launch a drone service platform.
InSpace's drone technology is useful for pursuing businesses like drone charging and training programs.
InSpace also develops satellite ground station solutions.
Hancom had previously announced that it would put up a drone flying academy in South Korea in cooperation with Chinese drone maker DJI.
Hancom also hopes to take part in the country's smart city projects.
