There have been plenty of reports claiming that Hideo Kojima’s company Kojima Productions is working on various projects at the moment. While the studio has not made any announcements yet, at least one of the games in the pipeline seemingly leaked in an early build video featuring actress Margaret Qualley.
The video, still available on YouTube, shows a brief sequence of “Camera Player 1” with a character portrayed by Qualley walking in corridors of a scary, abandoned facility. The game could be played in the third-person perspective, as shown in the video.
Aside from Qualley’s appearance, the leak did not reveal much about the mystery game. The character is not holding any weapon apart from a flashlight she uses while exploring the area. But there are some jump scares and a creature from which Qualley’s character is hiding. After a jump scare and Qualley’s character being captured by the monster creature, the video displays “A Hideo Kojima Game” followed by “Overdose.”
The entire video corroborated a report from Tom Henderson’s Try Hard Guides from June, where the well-known leaker described the recently leaked video to a tee. The report was later updated to say that Kojima’s company had requested for the report to be taken down, which the publication declined.
The leaked video has led to more questions, though. It now remains to be seen if the alleged “Overdose” leak came from the development of the game Kojima has been officially teasing in recent weeks.
The video game legend has released several teasers on Twitter, confirming actors involved in one of his upcoming games. In early October, Kojima released several photos that confirmed a character in his project would be portrayed by Elle Fanning.
Then, last week, the studio released another poster with the same layout as the teasers with Fanning. This time, however, the new poster features “Deadpool 2” star Shioli Kutsuna. This means both actresses will portray characters in the same unknown game. However, there is no clue yet to suggest that the official teasers are related to the “Overdose” project.
It is worth noting that Kojima made an appearance at the Xbox-Bethesda showcase last June to confirm he is working with Microsoft for a cloud-focused game. Kojima and Xbox, however, have yet to provide more details about gameplay and launch timeline. There are also heavy implications that Kojima will work with Norman Reedus once again for “Death Stranding 2.”
