News regarding “High School Musical 4” is far and few in between. Fans of the franchise are hoping that 2019 would be the year that Disney breaks its silence about its interest in a fourth film.
So far, however, the company remains reticent leaving the fate of “High School Musical 4” up in the air. And even if Disney orders another sequel, it’s unlikely that the main cast of the original films will be reprising their roles. Ashley Tisdale – who played Sharpay in the three movies – previously said that she doesn’t know how a fourth film would look like. She also said that being involved with the franchise made it difficult for her to find new projects.
“Yeah, it’s totally been challenging. I think people in this business put you in a box and label you for what they think they know of you and what character you have played. Sharpay was such an awesome character, but at the end of the day it was a character; it wasn’t me,” Tisdale said. As for Zach Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Blue, and Lucas Grabeel, they’ve expressed varying interest in reprising their roles for a possible “High School Musical 4.”
All of these stars are involved with their respective projects at the moment. And since Disney isn’t entertaining the possibility of a “High School Musical 4” happening, updates on this front has been scarce.
This is quite interesting to observe given that Disney has been remaking a lot of its classic films in recent years. And with the franchise’s fan base making a lot of noise over the web, it’s surprising that the company isn’t taking advantage of this fact. Indeed, the fan-made trailer that was released on Dec. 19, 2018, has already garnered 5 million views over on Youtube. This is concrete proof that people are still interested in seeing “High School Musical 4.” Hopefully, Disney will provide some info in the coming months whether or not they’re entertaining the idea of making another sequel.
