It is amazing that even after six years of moratorium, there are still fans holding on to the hope that “Highschool Of The Dead” Season 2 is coming. Unfortunately for those who absolutely adore the gruesome, gory, and bouncy action of the anime, this is just not happening. Aside from the fact that even the manga is now dead, there is simply no one willing to continue the series after the creator’s death.
For those who are still not in the know, the creator and writer of “Highschool Of The Dead,” Daisuke Satō has passed away. This is a major contributing factor to why “Highschool Of The Dead” Season 2 is not going to happen, Business Times reported last month. While it is common in the West for a series to be continued by another writer, Triage X editor Kawanakajima previously noted that this is not possible for this project.
"It's common overseas for comics and novels to be created by multiple collaborators," he said. "For example, the person who first wrote the Perry Rhodan novels has passed away, but the next generation of authors are continuing it. But for Highschool of the Dead, [Daisuke Satō] was the one and only, so I'd like overseas fans to understand that nobody else could write it easily.”
It's worth pointing out that when it comes to manga and anime unless explicitly supported by the original author or creator, no one touches a project that was started by someone else. On that note, even if there was someone crazy enough to try and revive the manga, “Highschool Of The Dead” Season 2 is still unlikely to happen.
A lot of this has to do with the changing trends. These days, dark fantasy and isekai are the hot new themes. Zombies are simply outdated even if sexy girls in impossibly skimpy outfits are thrown in. This is why “Highschool Of The Dead” Season 2 is unlikely to happen now or ever.
