As Huawei continues to launch the Honor 8X worldwide, here are a few things potential buyers should know about the Chinese company’s latest smartphone.
The Honor 8X is being marketed as a budget phone, but it actually has impressive specs and features for its price, which is around $330 USD. The phone has a 6.5-inch full view display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, and it is powered by the Kirin 710 octa-core processor developed by Huawei based on the Cortex A73 CPUs.
The Honor 8X also comes with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of interior storage with a microSD slot to expand it up to 400 GB, and a large 3750mAh battery that can last for hours. A 128 GB model of the phone is also sold globally and it has 6 GB of RAM. Other features include AI-enabled dual 20MP + 2MP rear cameras, and a 16MP selfie camera.
As noted by several reviewers, the Honor 8X actually looks quite similar to some of the flagship smartphones released this year, but it lacks the hardware of the more expensive models so don’t expect it to offer the same level of performance.
In any case, the Honor 8X does strike a balance between price and performance.
“With the newly unveiled Honor 8X, Honor is setting out to hit new benchmarks in terms of the balance between value, design and performance,” Honor president George Zhao said, according to the Daily Express.
"The Honor 8X doesn’t just meet the needs of our customers, it represents a stunning leap forward in smartphone technology, tearing down old conventions on what is possible, while keeping a strong focus on design aesthetics," he continued.
The Honor 8X is already available in markets worldwide, and it is available in red, blue, and black.
