“Hunter X Hunter” is one of those properties that can be difficult to love simply because it hurts too much. The series has earned a place for itself in the pantheon of the manga and anime greats. However, the frequent hiatuses and uncertain future have made it difficult to follow. With a new mobile game about the property coming out, this might change.
In both its manga and anime form, “Hunter X Hunter” has been running for decades. The property’s creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, started it back in 1998 and it is still going even now. During that time, it has led to several noteworthy developments, including the recent trailer for a mobile game. Titled “Hunter X Hunter: Greed Adventure,” it will be based on the time that the characters spent on Greed Island.
The clip gives nothing away with regards to what kind of gameplay the mobile app is going to feature. In fact, the only things it showed were stills of scenes taken from the anime, which only fans would recognize. At this point, it can be difficult to say if the “Hunter X Hunter” game is worth playing since it has not shown any footage of what it would be like to play.
For now, fans can content themselves with a recent interview that “Hunter X Hunter” creator had during the recent Shonen Jump event. As Comicbook.com notes, the author apparently wanted to make Gon more of a good boy than he is now.
“At first I wanted to make Gon into a ‘good boy’ sort of character, who would rank in high as someone you’d want as your own son,” Togashi said.
As fans of “Hunter X Hunter” would know by now, Gon is not exactly a typical shonen protagonist who is all about doing the right thing. His moral compass is quite flexible and he has no qualms doing bad things at all. He is certainly far from the character that Togashi originally envisioned.
