The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said 119,782 people were displaced in Sudan’s Blue Nile state by Oct. 15, a 21% increase over its Aug. 23 count.
The count covered displacement from Jan. 11 through Oct. 15 and represented 23,598 families. IOM’s Aug. 23 update recorded 99,277 people.
Across seven locations, including Damazin, the state capital, and Roseires, people younger than 18 made up about 45% of those displaced. Women and girls accounted for about 56% of the total, and males 44%, IOM said.
