Intel has recently revealed its plans to spin out a new platform company called Articul8 AI. This groundbreaking entity is backed by Boca Raton, Florida-based asset manager and investor DigitalBridge.
Developed from a proof-of-concept resulting from Intel's collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Yahoo noted that Articul8 AI leverages cutting-edge technology to address advanced AI requirements across various industries.
Innovative Generative AI System
Reuters reported that at the heart of Articul8 AI lies an innovative generative AI system. Intel harnessed its hardware capabilities and a combination of open-source and internally sourced software to develop this system. It can comprehend text and images, ensuring seamless operations within BCG's data centers while adhering to strict security protocols.
With years of meticulous refinement, the generative AI system has been fine-tuned to meet the specific needs of BCG, providing unmatched performance and functionality.
Scaling Across Industries
In recent months, Intel embarked on a mission to scale the Articul8 platform across various industries. Optimized for Intel hardware, this platform also extends its support to alternative solutions.
Companies operating in financial services, aerospace, semiconductor, and telecommunications, among others, can now leverage their high level of security and specialized domain knowledge.
Articul8's gen AI software product was meticulously crafted to cater to the specific needs of enterprises. It offers rapid deployment, scalability, security, and sustainability while effectively managing costs.
Moreover, the platform ensures that customer data, training, and inference remain within the enterprise security perimeter, granting organizations the flexibility to choose between cloud, on-premises, or hybrid deployment options.
Articul8's Leadership and Investors
Leading the spinout as CEO is Arun Subramaniyan, previously a Vice President and General Manager at Intel's Data Center and AI Group. The Articul8 team comprises experienced ex-Intel employees, ensuring a deep understanding of the technology and industry landscape.
While Intel retains an undisclosed stake in the firm, other major investors include Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, Communitas Capital, GiantLeap Capital, GS Futures, and Zain Group.
Intel's Strategic Capital Raising Approach
Articul8 represents Intel's latest endeavor to seek external capital for its business units. This move aligns with CEO Pat Gelsinger's ambitious comeback plan, which involves expanding chip factories in the United States and Europe and introducing new advanced chip manufacturing nodes within the next four years.
Notably, Intel recently spun out Mobileye, its car chip firm, and sold its memory chip division, with plans to initiate an eventual initial public offering of its programmable chip unit.
