Apple has always taken its security very seriously and one of the biggest sources of frustration for the Cupertino firm is the many Jailbreak solutions that users are crazy over. It would seem that the company has finally had enough and starting with iOS 12.0.1, it has since issued an ultimatum. Either the users are with Apple by upgrading to the newest iOS version or they can stay with the old version permanently.
This new declaration of war against Jailbreak enthusiasts by Apple comes in the form of the company no longer signing iOS 12.0.1. This basically means that any user who chooses to upgrade to the newest version of iOS 12 will no longer be able to go back and downgrade their devices. Now, this might not make much sense to an average user, but to Jailbreak fans, it’s a big issue.
For some context, upgrading to the newest iOS 12 patch is basically a good idea for those who are content with what Apple has to offer already. It’s got a bunch of new features including Group FaceTime, but this is not always enough for everyone. For those who prefer to Jailbreak their phones, upgrading is not an option.
This is because doing so would put the Jailbreak route out of their reach for the time being. As of now, there is no Jailbreak for iOS 12 that is widely available to the public and Apple would prefer to keep it that way. As such, anyone who wants to go with such an option won’t be able to do so after they have upgraded the OS of their devices.
So for anyone who wants to Jailbreak their iPhones, sticking with the iOS version that they have now would be advised. There’s no telling when hackers will be able to Jailbreak iOS 12, after all.
