In the last few days of the Trump administration before Joe Biden takes over the White House, more discoveries are coming to light, some involving Donald Trump’s son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner. After getting banned from Twitter permanently, Kushner reportedly stopped his father-in-law from joining other far-right-friendly social media platforms.
People familiar with the matter revealed to CNN that Kushner, along with White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino, went against other Trump aides to keep the outgoing president from joining other social media platforms like Parler and Gab. Trump has since been either temporarily or permanently banned from mainstream social platforms such as Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch, Youtube, and Facebook, with Twitter being his platform of choice. The platform temporarily restricted Trump’s account for constantly reasserting election fraud claims which have often been flagged. Twitter banned Trump permanently after the riots at the Capitol.
Many of Trump’s allies have transferred over to other far-right-friendly platforms like Parler and Gab. Neither apps are available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Amazon Web Services - the web host of Parler - announced it would be suspending the hosting of the app.
Other personnel who have offered their Twitter accounts to Trump also faced account suspensions. Some Trump allies were also suspended from the platform due to spreading conspiracy theories about the recent elections. One of Trump’s last posts on the platform was to announce that he would not be attending Biden’s inauguration on January 20.
With Kushner set to step down from his position as White House adviser in a few days, his Secret Service detail may be relieved for his impending departure from the job. A report has emerged that Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump would not let their Secret Service detail use any of the bathrooms in their home. This ended up in the federal government shelling out over $100,000 to the detail that rented a basement studio owned by a neighbor of the Kushners. They were charged $3,000 a month, after searching for months for a good restroom to use while on the job.
