There have been several instances that proved how popular and influential Jungkook and his group BTS are among pop music fans all over the world. But that reaches another level, and a fan-operated Instagram account dedicated to Jungkook won an MTV Award and defeated the official pages of other American pop stars.
Jungkook and BTS were nominated and have won several categories at the recently held 2019 MTV Millennial Awards (MIAW). But the most interesting recognition is Jungkook winning the Instagrammer Global category against celebrity DJ Marshmello, Ariana Grande, and Shawn Mendes among others.
However, the ironic thing is that MIAW, technically, did not award Jungkook because the K-Pop idol does not have his own, public Instagram account. Like the other members of BTS, they all post social media updates through a collective Instagram (@bts.bighitofficial) and Twitter (@BTS_twt) pages.
What MIAW awarded (@bts.jungkook) is a highly followed fan page on Instagram account that actively reposts Jungkook’s updates from the group’s official social media profiles. Meanwhile, the win is still considered an important one because this is the first time MIAW has given the said award to a Korean pop star.
Reports have it that MIAW chooses winners largely based on votes cast through social media platforms and the award-giving body’s official website. The @bts.jungkook page has over six million followers, and that number is way lesser compared to official pages of Grande (158 million) and Mendes (45.6 million). But the win just goes to show how Jungkook’s fans are all-out in supporting him and BTS.
Just recently, Jungkook proved again his ability to help sell out products. During a V Live stream, he was seen drinking wine, and even if he deliberately hid its label, fans were still able to identify the product. Not long after, the wine had reportedly gone sold out.
