KG Mobility, formerly SsangYong Motor Co., revealed today its soon-to-be-released Torres EVX, a groundbreaking all-electric SUV, planned to debut in the domestic market this coming September.
This marks the automaker's first electric model following its rebranding in March. Notably, the company's last model, the mid-sized SUV Mobility, achieved an impressive record by selling over 50,000 units within a year, becoming the fastest-selling model in the company's history.
The Torres EVX, representing the epitome of an electric leisure SUV, boasts sleek lines and features a distinctive horizontal light-emitting diode (LED) daytime running lamp (DRL) called a "kinetic lighting block." With a minimum ground clearance of 17.4 cm, the high body of the SUV offers excellent off-road capabilities compared to its competitors, along with a wide front field of view that imparts a sense of openness, as described by KG Mobility.
Equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, known for their competitive pricing and high stability, the Torres EVX delivers an impressive range of 420 km on a full charge, according to KG Mobility's measurements.
While KG Mobility has previously exported the Korando Emotion, the Torres EVX will be the first electric vehicle model available in the domestic market, overcoming previous battery supply issues.
The Torres EVX will be released in two trims: E5 and E7. The expected price range for the E5 model is between 49 million to 50 million won. In contrast, the E7 model will be priced at 51 million to 52 million won, as stated in the company's official statement. KG Mobility has stated that the Torres EVX model is expected to be available for less than 40 million won with government subsidies. Final prices and additional details will be announced at a later date.
KG Mobility's lineup currently features the Tivoli, Korando, Rexton, Rexton Sports, and Torres SUVs, each focusing on the SUV market segment. The exact release date and pricing details of the Torres EVX will be determined based on market conditions in the upcoming months.
Notably, KG Mobility reported a significant increase in sales during the first half of the year, with a 37 percent jump in sales from 47,589 units in the same period last year to 64,965 vehicles sold from January to June.
