The wait for “Kingdom Hearts 4” has officially started when players complete the missions and stories in the “KH3: Re:Mind” DLC released earlier this year. Fans should make sure they explore all the endings included in the expansion to get a better idea of where the series is going next.
‘Kingdom Hearts 4’ could introduce a new playable character
If there is one thing fans can agree on, it’s that the story of Sora has gotten much more complicated and his future more ambiguous after the base “KH3” game and the DLC. But both games were clear on one thing -- Sora’s adventure is far from over and he could still be a central character in “Kingdom Hearts 4.”
However, that does not mean “Kingdom Hearts 4” -- anticipated as the start of a new saga -- would not introduce a major tweak in the gameplay that also affects the plot. The DLC introduced a new character named Yozora, who eventually appeared to have very deep connections with Sora that are still unknown to gamers.
Yozora’s brief appearances in cinematic cutscenes and gameplay were enough for fans to theorize that he could be so significant in the plot now. He might even be one of the playable characters in “Kingdom Hearts 4,” as ScreenRant pointed out. The same report noted that Yozora having the ability to steal Kupo Coins for respawns in “Re:Mind” is one convincing hint that gamers might encounter missions where they play as the new character in the next game.
When is the likely ‘Kingdom Hearts 4’ release window
Unfortunately, it could take a while before Square Enix confirms Yozora’s role as a main and playable character in “Kingdom Hearts 4.” Tetsuya Nomura had been honest to fans that the next game will not be released anytime soon.
Although it is impossible to determine now when is the potential release window for “Kingdom Hearts 4,” fans can take some lessons learned from waiting for “KH3.” It can be recalled that 14 years went by since the second main series installment before “KH3” was released. Square Enix released some minor series installment within those years, but many plot questions were left unanswered until the launch of “KH3” in early 2019.
