Kraft, the company that makes Philadelphia Cream Cheese, announced that it would be paying $20 to customers if they will not make a cheesecake for this holiday. The odd offer comes as the cream cheese shortage has not been resolved yet and Christmas is already approaching fast.
Kraft's Philadelphia Cream Cheese is simply making a request from customers to replace their cheesecakes with other desserts just for this year. To easily find a replacement for the sweet treat, the company is helping by offering $20.
Apparently, with Kraft's latest offering for buyers of the beloved Philadephia Cream Cheese, it is also acknowledging the fact that there is a shortage due to the ongoing supply chain turmoil. Since this famous brand of cream cheese is a key ingredient in making cheesecakes, Kraft is making an effort not to ruin the holiday celebrations by suggesting a replacement for cream cheese-based cakes.
According to CNN Business, Kraft Heinz said on Wednesday, Dec. 15, that it will compensate around 18,000 customers with $20 for a Christmas dessert via its newly-launched Philadelphia Spread the Feeling program.
While the cream cheese shortage is an unfortunate thing, the publication noted that Kraft is also turning this event into something good. To put it simply, the company is using this scenario as a marketing opportunity.
"This is not an empty shelf, it is a holiday tradition waiting another year," the voice-over in Philadephia Cream Cheese's newest ad stated. "Because having a hard time finding cream cheese on shelves means having a hard time putting cheesecakes on tables. This year, turn that famous cheesecake into those famous brownies."
The ad went on to suggest that people can also bake cupcakes, cookies, "or anything that will make you feel anything in that cheesecake-shaped hole in your holiday heart."
A shelf without cream cheese is a holiday without cheesecake. So if you can’t make your favorite dessert this year, buy any other one. And we’ll pay for it. #SpreadTheFeeling

At any rate, the main idea for Kraft's Spread The Feeling offer for this holiday is to make sure that the occasion is still festive. Since many customers can't bake cheesecakes this year as they can't find cream cheese in supermarkets, they can just get another baked good and Kraft will pay for it with $20. Finally, Fox Business mentioned that the promo had been extended to a select few on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18.
