LG Display Co. will soon begin mass-producing OLED panels at its factory in Guangzhou, China, after a one-year delay caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
It is currently producing 8.5 OLED panels on a small scale in the Guangzhou factory.
South Korea's major display panel maker completed the factory's construction in August 2019, but the pandemic delayed mass-production.
LG Display needs to increase panel production to meet the demand for OLED panel TVs.
Jeong Ho-young, CEO of LG Display, may visit the Guangzhou factory on Wednesday.
LG Display is currently producing 70,000 OLED panels per month at a factory in Paju, north of Seoul.
The Guangzhou factory could produce 60,000 OLED panels per month, which may increase to 90,000 panels after 2021..
