L'Oreal Korea revealed on Monday, Feb. 7, that it will be introducing a device that customers can use at home to create the lip tint shade they want. The launch is part of the company's move to keep up with the growing personalization trend in the beauty sector.
As per The Korea Times, L'Oreal Korea simply wants to serve what the customers are looking for and what they need. Likewise, since the demand for personalization is increasing these days, the Korean unit of the French personal care company headquartered in Clichy, Hauts-de-Seine, is introducing its product called the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Sur Mesure.
The device will be able to create and deliver thousands of color schemes to users, and this is possible because the device has cartridges filled with four color ingredients, including pink, red, orange, and nude. This will allow customers to experiment with the palette using the mobile application to create their own shade of lip tint for the day.
The Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Sur Mesure lip tint device can also offer color recommendations to users and the suggestions are based on the skin tone of the user. The user can also try the color virtually.
"The development of Rouge Sur Mesure was informed by the L'Oréal Technology Incubator's successful launches of award-winning products," L'Oréal's Technology Incubator's vice president, Guive Balooch, said in an interview. "From this previous work, we knew consumers needed a higher level of personalization with products especially in the last several years and we worked tirelessly to perfect the Perso system. Rouge Sur Mesure allows users, for the first time, to have personalized beauty experiences at home."
As mentioned by Balooch, this new device's customization capability was made possible through the Perso system. It is an AI-powered technology designed for personalized cosmetic formulas and it was first introduced during the Consumer Electronics Show or CES 2020.
As posted on L'Oreal's website, the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Sur Mesure is powered by Perso and it lets users create the lip colors they want; thus, they can wear different lip colors every day. They can also match the shades for the occasion, so the device is really convenient.
"With this innovation, home users can create thousands of bespoke lipstick shades with a single touch," the description for the device reads. "The lid of the device functions as a compact luxury case, so you can take your personalized product along with you when you go out."
