LaLiga and Dapper Labs have launched an official NFT platform for digital video collectibles based on iconic moments from Spanish soccer’s top flight dubbed ‘Golazos’.
Fans can purchase and sell NFTs made out of a legally obtained video of LaLiga teams and players on the marketplace.
The idea behind "Golazos" is similar to Dapper Labs' other projects, such as the National Football League (NFL) All Day and National Basketball Association (NBA) Top Shot, and LaLiga is aiming to be as successful as them.
The NFTs will be based on notable goals, saves, and talents from the league going back to the 2005–06 season. The standout plays from each gameday of the current season will also be highlighted.
Each moment will come with numerous camera perspectives, voice commentary, match statistics, and be available in one of four rarity tiers: common, uncommon, rare, and legendary. The fact that LaLiga Golazos NFTs will be bilingual in English and Spanish ensures that they will have the widest possible appeal.
With the first drop focusing on the league's most famous rivalries, including El Clásico, which takes place on October 27, the platform will first begin as a closed beta. Ansu Fati and Marc-André ter Stegen of Barcelona, Luka Modric of Real Madrid, and Joo Félix of Atletico Madrid will act as launch ambassadors.
LaLiga has a separate NFT partnership with Sorare for fantasy sports.
