Latest Commitment of Traders positions (Commodities) as at April 5th, 2016

CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (8th April) and cover positions up to Tuesday (5th April). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions, however it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

Kindly note in some cases numbers are rounded to nearest decimal.

  • Gold – Net position long and increasing

Speculators increased net long position marginally by 594 contracts to +190.8K.

  • Copper – Net position short and increasing

Copper positions flipped to net short previous week and last week net short position increased further by 5659 contracts to -10K contracts. Position is suggesting further downside.

  • Silver – Net position long and decreasing

Speculators decreased net long position further by 2496 contracts to 52K contracts, indicating that momentum may be waning for precious metal pack.

  • WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing

Speculators decreased net long position further by 15381 contracts to +290.1K contracts.

  • Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing

Speculators reduced net short position further by 29368 contracts to -138.3K contracts.
