Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are now 10 for 7 and are sitting at seventh place in the Western Conference standings. While this win-loss ratio leaves a lot to be desired, this is actually looking good for the Lakers as they’re one of the teams touted to enter the playoffs this campaign.
The last time that the team participated in the playoffs was back in 2012-2013. The roster’s latest adversary was Lebron James’ former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although a lot of people expected the match to be a one-sided shootout, the Cavs actually gave the Lakers quite the hurdle.
The game ended with a 109-105 in favor of the Lakers. Of course, Lebron James led his team in terms of scoring, accumulating 32 points alongside 14 rebounds and 7 assists. For the Cavs, it was Cedi Osman and Jordan Clarkson who lighted the scoreboard as they had 21 points and 20 points respectively.
Lebron James’ return to Cleveland proved to be a warm one as the fans at the Quicken Loans Arena cheered the former Cavaliers. They even paid tribute to the 33-year-old forward in the form of a thank you video, ESPN reported.
The clip not only highlighted what Lebron James did for the Cavs but also featured all the influential things that the talented player did outside the court. Perhaps the biggest contribution that Lebron did for his hometown is opening a school for marginalized children, offering free education and everything else that comes along with it.
That means food, transportation, and the support that the kids need outside the educational institutions. It’s reported that it will cost Lebron James north of a $100 million for this pledge alone, not to mention the rising tuitions that are projected in the country. James previously said that he’s more than willing to help the people in his hometown and although he’s playing for another franchise now, Cleveland will always be home for him.
Returning to the court, the Lakers’ next match will be against the Utah Jazz. This will be another challenge for Lebron James and his new team as the Jazz’s roster isn't a walk in the park.
