Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun finally start filming “The King: The Eternal Monarch.” It was revealed that the camera began rolling on Oct. 24, and the cast and crew have gathered in their first shoot location, which is a two-story house in North Chungcheong Province.
According to Korea’s Sports Kyung Hyang, this set is just one of the locations that they will use. The outlet described the place as a house with a large backyard that has a gingko tree on it. It was also mentioned that the building has a sign that reads: Heroes Taekwondo Studio and it will be Kim Go Eun’s character’s home in the drama with Min Ho.
Drama’s plot and other details
As shared on My Drama List, The actor will be playing Emperor Lee Gon while the actress will be the modern-day detective Jung Tae Eul. The said two characters live in different time periods, but they strangely met each other after the Emperor in the old Korean times found a door that leads to the present-day world. He came across the lady detective, and he asked her to help him seal the passage so that they can protect each other’s worlds and lives.
It is a romance-fantasy drama that will present a two parallel universe concept that has become a popular theme in movies and dramas. Lee Min Ho’s character must close the door before the villains from both sides find it and cause trouble.
This will be Lee Min Ho’s comeback drama after a 2-year hiatus due to his mandatory military enlistment. He has been discharged in April, and this drama was confirmed just a week following his release from the army. “The King: The Eternal Monarch” will reunite the actor with popular “The Heirs” screenwriter Kim Eun Sook.
The other stars who will appear in the drama include Woo Do Hwan, Lee Jung Jin, Jung Eun Chae, and Kim Kyung Nam. The highly-anticipated drama will be directed by “The Descendants of the Sun” PD, Baek Sang Hoon.
Release date
Lee Min Ho’s “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is set to be released in the first quarter of next year while filming is expected to end in early 2020. The drama will air on SBS Network.
