The MacBook Pro 2018 is supposed to be the laptop that would redeem Apple in the eyes of fans who were disappointed with the 2017 variant’s lack of power and features. For some time now, the reviews for the device have been flowing in from every corner of the web. While many have their own takes on what the MacBook Pro 2018 has to offer, the general reaction has been one of disappointment.
Basically, the MacBook Pro 2018 has a lot of issues. As The Verge reported, the device came with heating problems, which severely throttled the speed of the processor. This issue was apparently caused by a software bug, which Apple patched with an update. Then there’s the matter with the keyboard, which comes with questions about reliability and isn’t exactly as quiet as the Cupertino firm promised.
Suffice it to say, Apple lost some opportunities to earn back the trust of fans of its MacBook Pro computers with the MacBook Pro 2018. While it does come with more power and is a lighter machine than those in the past, many can’t help but feel that the iPhone maker simply doesn’t care about its laptops anymore.
In Forbes’ take on the computer, the publication even noted that the logic board of the MacBook Pro 2018 could potentially be an issue. Apparently, the computer’s SSD is directly soldered to the component, which makes removal impossible for the regular person. A recovery port was supposed to be a way to secure the data on the device if something went wrong, but this port appears to have been removed from this updated variant.
As a result, if ever the MacBook Pro 2018 should experience a system failure, the data could be lost forever. This is not an encouraging find, especially when combined with how the T2 chip is apparently causing period crashes.
