The rumors that Mark Harmon will be leaving “NCIS” is persisting as gossip media are continuously publishing fabricated stories about the matter. The latest among these came from Globe (via Gossip Cop) claiming that the 67-year-old actor is walking out of the show due to a feud against fellow cast members.
“[Mark Harmon] is fed up with ‘NCIS’ and everybody on it. He’s hated by the rest of the cast because he holds grudges and has gotten people fired. He’s a real dictator on the set and sparked a lot of conflicts among his co-workers,” an unnamed insider supposedly told the outlet.
But given Globe’s reputation for publishing stories that are unfounded, it’s best to take their word with heavy skepticism. There is a lot of evidence to dispute this claim, and one of them is Mark Harmon’s previous statements regarding his co-stars, Celebrity Insider reported.
In an interview he gave with TVLine, the actor said that he’s thrilled to work with the show’s other casts and even praised Maria Bello for being a great actress. Mark Harmon’s rep has also come forward and said that the actor doesn’t have any plans of leaving the show. Harmon himself has previously said that his commitment to the police procedural hasn’t diminished one bit and has actually grown stronger due to the fans’ massive support.
Indeed, the crime drama is as popular as ever with millions of viewers tuning in every time a new episode drops. Mark Harmon said, in the past, that he’ll only consider parting ways with the show if the writers admit that they’ve exhausted every plotline there is to explore. But that hasn’t come to pass.
The show is currently in a position to evolve story-wise as the protagonists are currently at odds with the secretary of defense. As for Mark Harmon’s next project, he’s currently working with CBS to launch a new series based on the “Prey” novels of John Stanford. Reports initially assumed that the actor’s involvement with the new adaptation is a sign that he means to leave “NCIS.”
That proved to be off the mark as Mark Harmon will only be acting as an executive producer for the upcoming series. So in conclusion, Globe’s claim is a complete fabrication, and the 67-year-old will be staying with “NCIS” indefinitely.
