With the “Marvel’s Avengers” release date postponed, fans won’t be getting their hands on the upcoming action-adventure title by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal until September this year. Thankfully, the developers just released a brief trailer giving fans on its hero customizations, outfits and more.
Players will have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to customizing their “Marvel’s Avengers” heroes. “Each of the heroes has tons of outfits inspired by over 80 years of Marvel history as well as original new once,” the trailer said.
Players can also equip different Gears that will change a hero’s playstyle making him even more powerful. The trick to powering up is to unlock its Perks, according to IGN. Perks basically add modifiers such as an AOE Burst or perhaps recharging Heroics at a faster rate. “We have a vast amount of Gear unique to each Super Hero in Marvel’s Avengers, each with its own rarity, stats, and Perks to unlock,” Crystal Dynamics Studio Creative Head Noah Hughes said.
Gamers can experiment with different Gear combinations to find out which suits best to their heroes’ skills. “When we say ‘play your way,’ we mean it,” Hughes added. “Players can dive deep into min-maxing their hero build through Skills and Gear. Players can switch out Gear and choose which pieces suit individual playstyles as new, better Gear is discovered or earned, allowing them to further tune their playstyle.”
There are two types of missions in “Marvel’s Avengers” called Hero and Warzone Missions. Hero Missions are part of the overall campaign and can only be played in single-player mode.
Meanwhile, Warzone Missions can either be played in single-player mode or with a group of up to four players. Gamers are free to choose their own combination of heroes for their team.
There is also a new group of antagonists that will be introduced in the “Marvel’s Avengers” game. After a devastating accident, Super Heroes are now viewed as dangerous resulting in the Avengers being disbanded and the rise of a new group AIM.
“AIM, or Advanced Idea Mechanics, rises from the ashes of ‘A-Day,’ when many people were affected by the Terrigen mist from the reactor explosion,” Hughes said. “AIM feels that those affected must be cured.”
“A growing public sentiment is shaped that Super Heroes are dangerous and if left unchecked, they could wreak more havoc than good,” added Hughes. “AIM wants to define mankind’s future with reason, with logic. They believe in science, not Super Heroes, and that this devout purity to science will make the world a safer, stronger place; which also means Super Heroes can’t be left to roam freely.”
