There have been a lot of discussions about “Max Payne 4” that never really went anywhere simply because they were nothing but speculation. As it stands, it doesn’t even seem like the fourth numbered installment is in the works simply because of how the third iteration did so poorly. If Rockstar wants to bring this franchise back, is online multiplayer or something like Battle Royale really the only hope?
With the games in the “Max Payne” franchise being primarily single player, it doesn’t really make much sense to turn the game into a multiplayer title. Rockstar clearly has a certain model to the games it creates now, VGA reported recently. The old format for “Max Payne” simply won’t work in this model. If ever “Max Payne 4” is made, it will need to have a radical makeover.
Rockstar is still committed to good storytelling and Remedy is, as well, if its recent games are any indication. As such, the narrative will likely have a big part to play in “Max Payne 4.” On that note, the game will also likely come with a ton of other features such as online multiplayer because this is what is required now.
The developers simply can’t get away with creating “Max Payne 4” without the crucial component that could net Take-Two a lot of money. More than anything else, the sales numbers will need to be high in order for the game’s existence to even be justified.
So, what form will this online aspect to “Max Payne 4” take if it ever does materialize? It would appear that the only real options now would be something like “GTA 5 Online.” There is no doubt that purists are going to have a field day if this ever does come to pass, but if fans want the game, they’ll need to deal with everything it comes with.
