McDonald's Japan Corp has collaborated with Ultraman to bring back their long-selling favorite fried chicken burger, the Chicken Tatsuta, and offer a new version called Shin Tatsuta Miyazaki Specialty Chicken Nanban with Tartar Sauce.
The collaboration with Ultraman, one of Japan's most well-known heroes, is in support of the upcoming film "Shin Ultraman," which will be released on May 13.
Starting April 20th, 2022, the two chicken burgers will be available for a short time at McDonald's restaurants throughout Japan.
In addition, five new side dishes and drinks will be added to the menu, and the burgers and drinks will be packaged in Ultraman's original packaging.
The Chicken Tatsuta has a delicious chicken patty flavored with ginger soy sauce, crispy shredded cabbage, and a creamy, somewhat spicy sauce between two soft and fluffy original buns. It's a classic that's been cherished for more than 30 years, since its debut in 1991.
Joining the chicken burger duos are the Shaka Shaka Potato Red & Black Double Pepper, Mac Fizz Aomori Fuji Apple, Mac Float Aomori Fuji Apple, McFizz Kumamoto Watermelon, and the Mac Float Kumamoto Watermelon in limited-edition cups featuring an illustration of Ultraman from the film.
A new commercial has also been released online and will begin airing on Japanese television on April 19th. A special Chicken Tatsuta variation on the theme song from the 1971 TV series Return of Ultraman plays in the background.
They are, however, met by not one, but two burgers, who appear like heroes in front of them.
There are also Twitter contests where you may win McCard cash cards themed after "Shin Ultraman."
