‘Mechanic: Resurrection’ recently released a new television spot featuring Jason Statham and Jessica Alba in action-packed sequences.
According to Flickering Myth, a new television spot for director Dennis Gansel’s upcoming action-thriller film has recently been released ahead of the scheduled premiere for August 26. It featured Jason Statham’s lead protagonist Arthur Bishop engaged in numerous action sequences.
In the television spot, Jessica Alba’s Gina is kidnapped and Arthur has to go on a mission to save her. She tells him through a remote video, “You have 36 hours to eliminate all the targets on this list or they will eliminate me.
Arthur was first introduced in the original 2011 film ‘The Mechanic’, which was also a remake of the 1972 film of the same name. The character is a professional assassin that specializes in making his kills look like accidents, suicides or crimes committed by petty criminals. He works as a highly skilled and efficient contract killer who shows no remorse.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the sequel will find Statham returning as Arthur, who must now go on an international mission to track down and save his girlfriend after she was kidnapped by an enemy. In exchange for Gina’s life, he is tasked at killing three new targets.
Gina is described as a beautiful and cunning woman who tries to help Arthur leave his murderous past behind. Alba joins Statham in a cast that also includes Tommy Lee Jones, Michelle Yeoh, Sam Hazeldine, and John Cenatiempo among others.
‘Mechanic: Resurrection’ is an upcoming crime and action-thriller film directed by Dennis Gansel and written by Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher. It is produced under Chartoff-Winkler Productions, Davis-Films, ME2 Productions, and Millenium Films and is distributed by Lionsgate in the United States.
It is intended as the sequel to 2011’s ‘The Mechanic’. The preceding film earned $76.34 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of $42.5 million.
