Rumors about “Suits” actress Meghan Markle getting engaged to Prince Harry went into overdrive early this week, as reports of her activities indicate her possibility of becoming a member of the British Royal Family soon.
According to a PEOPLE.com source, the 35 year-old was invited to Pippa Middleton’s wedding to financier James Matthews on May 20. Although she will be coming in as Prince Harry’s date, Markle will not be in the actual ceremony at St. Marks church in Englefield, England due to a “no-ring, no-bring” rule - meaning only family members, including sister the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, and their spouses or engaged partners can only attend the ceremony. But the actress is free to join them at the reception, which a less formal event.
Middleton’s invitation seems to be an indication that she and Prince Harry are getting serious, Elle UK said. Markle also attended a wedding before with Prince Harry, at that time at the latter’s schoolfriend Tom 'Skippy' Inskip to Lara Hughes-Young in Jamaica.
Another sign seen about Markle’s move towards royal life is her recent conclusion to her business partnership with Canadian retailer Reitmans. Metro UK said Markle was a brand ambassador for the store, and collaborated on two collections that were subsequently sold out following her relationship with Prince Harry. Supposedly, she turned down the offer to extend the contract even after a salary increase.
Markle has also shut down The Tig, a lifestyle blog.
Reitmans nonetheless clarified the rumors surrounding the end of contract with Markle and said in a statement, “The partnership with Meghan Markle and Reitmans ended on a very positive note, and in line with the contract. The initiative was always meant to contain only two collections that were created with our in-house team of Montreal based designers and two advertising campaigns to support these collections. ‘The partnership ended as was originally planned. We are very pleased with the collaboration we shared and we wish Meghan Markle much happiness in the future.”
