Since Donald Trump won the election in 2016, his marriage with Melania Trump has become one of the favorite topics in the media. Many articles and books were dedicated to painting a picture that the couple is doomed to get divorced at some point. While that remains a rumor up to this point, several reports of cheating allegations are not helping the Trumps’ case.
In recent years a couple of women claimed to have an intimate relationship with the President around the time Mrs. Trump has just given birth to their only child. It can also be recalled that, in 2017, a report surfaced on social media claiming that the First Lady was also having an affair.
Melania Trump, Donald Trump both accused of having affairs
It was previously reported that adult movie star Stormy Daniels and 1998 Playmate of the Year, Karen McDougal, allegedly had an affair with the President sometime between 2006 and 2007. Then in 2017, writer Monica Byrne posted a series of tweets claiming that Mrs. Trump has also had an affair while being married to the real estate mogul.
The original tweets have since been deleted but were already picked up by several outlets, including Perez Hilton’s blog. One of the posts from June 2017 read, “Word is, for many years, Melania’s been having an affair with the head of security at Tiffany’s in the Trump Tower lobby.” In the same series of tweets, Byrne’s source claimed that the Trumps have agreed on getting divorced after the 2016 campaign.
However, it was allegedly postponed when Mr. Trump won the election. Byrne also wrote that the Trumps’ divorce agreements were probably adjusted after it became clear that they will be staying in the White House for four years.
What happens if Melania Trump and Donald Trump get divorced?
One of the obvious reasons why the Trumps needed to stay married is because they currently represent America’s first couple. But with so many reports claiming their marriage has been on the rocks, Business Insider explained what could happen if they decide to get a divorce while still in office.
The most likely scenario would be Mrs. Trump vacating the East Wing, and the President would have to appoint someone else to assume the role of First Lady. Interestingly, divorce lawyer Jacqueline Newman told the report that Mrs. Trump possibly demanded to up the terms of their prenup agreement after the 2016 election.
