A new book centered on first lady Melania Trump is set to hit bookstores on Tuesday, promising to reveal a side of the first lady that has not been talked about before. Excerpts from the book were teased over the weekend, and among the information revealed was how Mrs. Trump was hesitant to take on the role of first lady.
Some excerpts of the book, titled The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump, written by Mary Jordan of The Washington Post, were teased online on the outlet over the weekend. The book includes recollections and insights about the first lady from 100 people spanning five countries. Among the information that was teased involved the events following the 2016 elections. According to Jordan, neither Melania nor her husband Donald Trump, expected to win against former first lady and secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
Donald Trump was reportedly set on his post-election plans, assuming he was defeated when the announcement came that he won. One of the people who worked with the Trumps revealed that Melania told them to stop calling her first lady.
Also revealed in the book was the reason why Melania was so hesitant in taking up the role of first lady. Part of Melania’s reluctance in becoming the first lady was due to the constant public and media scrutiny as well as her displeasure in the reports that came out during Donald Trump’s campaigning period talking about his supposed infidelities. Trump has since denied those stories, one of them famously being adult film star Stormy Daniels.
It is also known that Melania did not move into the White House right away following the inauguration. The book details that Melania reportedly used the six months she had left in New York to supposedly come up with a better pre-nuptial agreement for herself while making sure that their son Barron Trump would be given equal treatment alongside his older step-siblings.
Details about her marriage and family with Trump aside, the book also reveals that there was some sort of power struggle between the first lady and Trump’s eldest daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump. Melania reportedly went against Ivanka’s bid to name her White House office the “First Family Office” all the while she had yet to move into the White House.
The White House has since denied the claims of the supposed power struggle between the two.
