The United States First Lady Melania Trump is often under heavy scrutiny for everything she does, and her sartorial choices are included. Her outfit during her most recent appearance at an event earned her criticism on social media.
Melania and her husband President Donald Trump attended the College Football National Playoff Championship in New Orleans a few days ago. The First Lady was wearing a shiny navy blue trenchcoat as she accompanied her husband in appearing at the event, the two of them smiling and waving to the audience that looked on before stopping in the middle of the field for the opening ceremonies. Photos of the couple’s appearance were shared online and many people were quick to comment on her outfit.
Some of them commented on how the First Lady should get rid of the coat and how ugly it was. Some even said that she looks like she is wearing a garbage bag and some even wondered why she was wearing a raincoat to an event such as a football game. One even said that the First Lady was dressed like she is in a bad 1960s spy movie or in the movie “The Matrix” where the lead characters would wear similar-looking outfits.
Some commenters also took this as an opportunity to slam Donald as well. However, many of the First Lady’s supporters also praised her for her fashion, with some saying that she pulled off the outfit well.
It is not the first time she was under fire for her clothing. Previously, the First Lady was mocked for her outfit when she was revealed to be present during a meeting at the Oval Office between Donald Trump and the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who were discussing foreign policies as well as the tensions between the United States and Iran over the past several weeks. Melania was wearing what looked like a checkered pantsuit, to which many did not think looked good.
Some wondered why she was wearing such an outfit. One commenter said the First Lady looked like she was wearing pajamas instead of the appropriate attire. But most of the comments were really wondering why she was present in the meeting in the first place.
