Several books about the Trumps, a few about first lady Melania Trump, have revealed a little bit more about the usually low-key first lady. Recently, Melania’s former aide and confidante Stephanie Winston Wolkoff revealed that she used her private email to discuss White House matters.
Speaking to CNN Wednesday, Wolkoff revealed that Melania used her private email accounts instead of her official White House email address for business pertaining to the White House. First, ladies are usually not restricted from using their private emails to do official government business compared to their husbands and other officials. However, her husband Donald Trump, made former first lady and secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server to do government business one of his talking points against her.
“Melania was never working on policy, no excuses. But again, a very difficult road to go down with as far as what the White House was willing to open her avenue to participate,” revealed Wolkoff.
When asked why Melania and Donald would opt for using their private email accounts to do government business, especially following Donald’s attacks against Clinton for the very same thing, Wolkoff responded, “Does it really surprise you? … I think the Trumps are the Trumps. And they do whatever they want and go by their own rules. It’s unfortunate.”
Wolkoff also revealed that she and Melania used private emails because she did not have access to a White House email account on her first month working for the first lady. Melania reportedly used a private Trump Organization account, a MelaniaTrump.com email, iMessage, and the encrypted messaging app Signal.
Three months away until December, Melania is already in the process of planning for this year’s Christmas activities at the White House. A statement from the White House revealed that the president and first lady will be opening up the White House for the traditional decorating to the public.
They will also be inviting musicians and choirs to apply to perform at the White House during the holiday season. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the White House statement also noted that there will be measures in place that meet the guidelines of local, state, and federal officials.
