Yet another family member of Michael Schumacher has come forward to share their experiences with the German icon, and this time it’s the German icon’s half-brother, Sebastian Stahl. A racer himself, Stahl said that his half-brother has had a lot of influence on him on and off the grid, describing the revered champion as someone who he has a deep friendship with.
"I already did motorsports before I met Michael, but Michael was always an idol for me and at the same time a very, very good friend," Stahl said. He added that Michael Schumacher’s far-reaching ambitions resonated on him as well, inspiring him to strive for greatness similar to what his half-brother did during his years of dominance.
Now, however, Michael Schumacher is still trying to recover from the injuries he sustained in 2013 when a skiing accident took away most of his motor and cognitive skills. Updates regarding the racing legend’s health condition remain sparse as the family is still trying to keep his recovery private.
The latest news about this regard came from FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) President Jean Todt who revealed that he was watching with Michael Schumacher when Lewis Hamilton won his fifth title. Todt didn’t elaborate on the condition of his good friend as he’s respecting the wishes of the family to keep Michael’s current health a secret.
Stalh, too, didn’t provide much information with regards to Michael Schumacher’s condition and it’s unknown whether the 40-year-old racer has recently visited the German legend at Switzerland. The family is only allowing a select few to see the racer as they feel it’s important for Michael to heal without being bothered by the constant noise of the outside world.
Aside from Todt, Archbishop Georg Gänswein is also among those who are allowed to meet Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland. The holy man said that when Michael saw him, the icon’s face got “a little fuller.”
Fans and contemporaries of Michael Schumacher have been praying for his full recovery and Gänswein relayed to the legend all the well-wishes that people are sending his way. His wife, Corinna Schumacher, also released a thank you statement for those who have been supporting his husband’s recovery, adding that Michael will not give up this fight.
