Speaking to Kotaku, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata said that he and his team were kept in the dark with regards to Microsoft’s ‘Scorpio” console. As a result, it’s not likely that the upgraded version of the tech company’s flagship video game system will feature the highly anticipated new addition to the legendary Japanese role-playing game franchise. Gamers can relax as new gameplay during E3 show that the “Xbox One” will be able to handle the title just fine.
Tabata said that he only found out about “Project Scorpio” at Microsoft’s green room, which is why he and his team have not worked on anything for the new console. This means that “FFXV” might not happen for “Scorpio” for a while or ever, and the same goes for Sony’s upgraded console.
When Kotaku writer Jason Schreier asked Tabata to confirm, the game director did just that.
“No, we haven’t started anything,” Tabata said. “I first learned about Scorpio at the [Microsoft] conference. I was there waiting in the green room and I go ‘ooh wow, what’s that?’”
This is a shame since Tabata apparently thinks that the “Scorpio” has a lot of potential. He says that he still needs to actually get a hands-on experience with the console in order to know what it can do, but based on the specs listed during the presentation, “FFXV” versions that will suit the next generation of consoles sounded great to him.
Tabata added that he would love to be able to allow players who have 4K TVs to play “FFXV” on that resolution. Both “Scorpio” and “Neo” are meant to be capable of providing 4K resolution with the games that can be played on both systems.
For those who are getting “FFXV” for “Xbox One,” Eurogamer reports that the new gameplay demos during E3 exhibit great improvements with the framerates and graphic quality on the current gen console. At the very least, “Xbox One” users will have the same graphical benefits as “PlayStation 4” users.
