Members of the PC Master Race have been bragging about how PC gaming is better than doing so on consoles. Now, Microsoft has given this particularly exuberant crowd another reason to feel superior thanks to the Game Mode that will be released for Windows 10. According to the company, this is meant to devote the unit’s resources towards gaming in order to provide the best experience that it is capable of delivering.
Gamers have been finding ways to boost the performance of their rigs for years with everything from personalized programs or third-party software. However, not everyone knows how to safely implement these kinds of changes, which is why the concept of a Windows 10 Game Mode is so important. Come tomorrow, all PC gamers using the latest Windows OS will have access to game-boosting features, The Verge reports.
By turning on Game Mode, the majority of the resources of the PC’s CPU and GPU will be diverted to the game that is currently running. Once the feature becomes available, it will need to be turned on for every single game that the users want to receive the boost. Microsoft states that some games could automatically benefit from the feature, but at the moment, too few of them can.
This move by Microsoft is indicative of the company’s increased focus on gaming, both with the Xbox One console and PC. In the blog post that the company made announcing Game Mode, Microsoft outlines the changes that gamers can expect from the feature as well as its plans for PC gaming.
“With Game Mode, it’s our goal to now take things a step further to make the gaming experience on Windows even better,” the blog post reads. “Our vision is that Game Mode optimizes your Windows 10 PC for an improvement in overall game performance.”
