“Monster Hunter Generation” is about to have one of the most iconic characters in “Nintendo” gaming history to join the world of hunting dragons and dinosaur hybrids. “Link” from the “Legend of Zelda” series will make an appearance on the “3DS” title in his “Wind Waker” form. His appearance is included in the latest downloadable content for “Generation,” which is free. Unfortunately, “Link” won’t actually be “Link,” but just a character skin that the game’s mascots will wear.
As Polygon notes, this revelation was brought about by a new trailer that was released for “Generation,” where the appearance of the “Zelda” games’ main character seems to be worn by a “Palico.” For those who are not familiar with the franchise’s mascots, “Palicos” are humanoid cat creatures that help hunters with various activities. They even cart dead hunters back to the spawn point if they take on a monster that was too strong for them.
As far as the appearance of the character goes, it seems the skin features the iconic Hylian shield and master sword of “Link.” Players shouldn’t expect to be able to use these items, though there is always a possibility that the developers will add a usable version of these items in future DLCs. In the trailer, it seems that some of the idle movements of the “Palico” wearing the “Link” skin also does some of the iconic motions by the silent, green-clad protagonist such as the spinning sword attack, according to Gamespot.
For now, players will only see “Palicos” wearing the skin of different characters from different games, even including “Amaterasu” from the game “Okami.” Since “Amaterasu” is a canine deity, it makes for a shocking choice of skin.
There is not confirmation as to when the DLC will come out, but the game itself will be released on July 15.
