“Mortal Kombat 11” is set to release its first ever DLC and slated it to drop on June 18. The first character that will be available is Shang Tsung, with Nightwolf, Sindel, Spawn, and two new other unknown fighters joining in the future, Engadget reported.
While Nether Realm is keeping both characters as a mystery, they did hint about it in the new teaser clip of “Mortal Kombat 11.” The clue in question is the sound of a chainsaw. And most are pretty convinced that it’s going to be Ash from “Ash & The Evil Dead.”
However, given that Bruce Campbell himself has denied that he’s involved in any capacity in “Mortal Kombat 11,” it’s best to remain skeptical for now unless the developers announced something more concrete. In the meantime, Shang Tsung is looking to be the game’s most versatile character yet as he can change form at any time and dish out punishment based on who he’s currently mimicking.
The trailer for “Mortal Kombat 11” highlighted this fact along with the possible combos that players can implement when using the shape-shifting sorcerer. Aside from the additional characters, the DLC will also be providing 19 new skins and gears for players, including Klassic Skins for Scorpion, Noob-Saibot, and Sub-Zero.
This “Mortal Kombat 11” content pack will cost $40 and will have a week of early access. The game has been embraced by the gaming community with gusto as it provided a fresh new take on the fighting genre. The battle mechanics alone is something to behold even though the pacing has been considerably slowed down compared to its predecessor.
As such, most of the top players are approaching “Mortal Kombat 11” with a sort of tactical approach, preceding the aggressive style that has dominated the meta in previous iterations. And with Shang Tsung looking to shake things up, it would be interesting to see how this DLC will sculpt the meta moving forward.
