As expected, 2K Games officially announced “NBA 2K20” as soon as the month of July started. However, many gameplay details remain under wraps. Aside from a brief trailer, the only sneak peek to the game is a first-look photo with Anthony Davis and LeBron James in their Los Angeles Lakers uniform.
It was a wise choice to reveal a preview of “NBA 2K20” with Davis and James in it. Aside from Davis being the main cover athlete this year, his trade from New Orleans to Los Angeles was one of the biggest deals this offseason. The mini gameplay teaser, posted on Twitter over the weekend serves as somewhat the fans’ first glimpse of a new and powerful on-court tandem. However, avid fans of the video game franchise see more than that.

A quick look at the said Twitter post shows that many of the replies are actually quite critical of the quality of graphics manifested in the promo image. Several netizens commented on how it looks very similar to “NBA 2K19” suggesting that not much has improved if the picture represents “NBA 2K20” graphics.

Other fans suggest that the “NBA 2K20” graphics seem okay based on the preview photo. Someone also commented that if this is the actual graphics, the developers should then offer much-improved gameplay this year. Meanwhile, another fan pointed out that with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett console in the pipeline the new iteration should be visually improved.
A brief trailer and the Davis-James photo teaser are some of the few promotional materials 2K has, so far, released for “NBA 2K20.” Developers have yet to announce comprehensive details about the new and improved gameplay elements in this iteration. Also, 2K needs to let fans know how the WNBA players are going to be introduced in the franchise.

What 2K has announced are the three pre-order bundles that fans purchase right now such as the Standard Edition ($59.99) and Deluxe Edition ($79.99) that both feature Davis on the cover and the Legend Edition ($99.99) with Dwyane Wade on the cover. “NBA 2K20” will be released on Sept. 6.
