“NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 will have a special guest right in the premiere episode as CBS confirmed that Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will briefly join the show. Meanwhile, a new special agent arrives at the NOLA office to temporarily take Pride’s (Scott Bakula) job.
The last episodes of season 4 did not end well for Pride. After getting bailed out of definite jail time, he faced an assassination attempt at his new apartment. Though he survived the gunshot wounds to his chest, “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 opens with Pride still in the ICU.
“NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 premieres with Pride fighting for his life. Meanwhile, his team has to work without their leader and track down the woman who shot him.
As for Gibbs’s “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 premiere appearance, it is not clear if he actually travels to the NOLA office or will be calling the local team via MTAC. While Gibbs is perfectly safe in Washington D.C., his team in the HQ is also facing a huge problem that involves the missing NCIS Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll).
Gibbs could be simply checking in on Pride’s condition in “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5. But there is also a great chance that the acting NCIS director will be asked to pull some strings to find out who in the Washington D.C. politics wants Pride gone in NCIS.
Though Pride’s condition in “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 premiere seems scary, the character will definitely recuperate soon. Proof of Pride’s survival is linked to a new character played by “The Cosby Show” alum Geoffrey Owens.
According to CBS (via TVLine), “Still emotionally reeling following his brush with death in the season finale/season premiere, Pride consults his friend … on what could be causing his current symptoms and what his next course of action should be.” That friend happens to be Pride’s confidant, Commander Adams (Owens), who will be introduced in “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5.
Pride, however, might not be coming back to the field immediately. He might be working from the sidelines within the first episodes, which explains the addition of a new cast member in “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5.
It was recently confirmed that actress Necar Zadegan enters the show as Special Agent Hannah Khoury, who will be taking the lead following Pride’s failed assassination. “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 10 p.m. on CBS.
