“NCIS” Season 16 is speculated to lose another long-time member due to how the current plot development is unfolding. If so, this will be the next time that a pioneer of the show will be walking away from the police procedural.
It can be recalled that Pauley Perrette never made it into “NCIS” Season 16 when she opted to leave the show after starring in it for more than a decade. Now, Sean Murray – who plays Timothy McGee in the crime drama – is also speculated to walk from the series, Celebrity Insider reported.
The apprehension stems from the fact that McGee is being head-hunted by other companies to pull him out of his current position. He had even been offered incentives to do so with an enticing higher salary to coax him out the team. So how likely is it that McGee is going to be written out somewhere in “NCIS” Season 16?
At the moment, the only evidence that is supporting this rumor is the abovementioned plot development. Murray himself hasn’t hinted at anything that is pointing towards a possible separation in “NCIS” Season 16.
In a recent interview with CountryLiving, Murray spoke about the show’s success and how Mark Harmon is an integral part of that achievement. "We wouldn’t be here, 16 years later, if it wasn’t for [Mark] Harmon. Harmon is a very special individual,” Murray said. This isn’t the first rumor that has plagued “NCIS” Season 16.
A few months ago, a rumor made its round on the web claiming that Harmon himself will be leaving the police procedural sometime this installment. The speculation stemmed from the fact that Harmon is working on the TV adaptation of the “Prey” novels by John Stanford. When news broke out, several publications debunked this claim and said that Harmon will not be leaving “NCIS” Season 16 as his contract extends to the next installment.
As for McGee’s fate, fans are hoping that the cybersecurity expert remains with the show until its final entry. Hopefully, “NCIS” Season 16 will not have Murray’s character parting ways with the team as it would be detrimental to the series moving forward.
