Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. is a Japanese holding company and entertainment firm that is best known for its role-playing game (RPG) franchises such as “Kingdom Hearts and “Final Fantasy.” It is now celebrating the 25th anniversary of its “Final Fantasy VII” game title, and to mark this occasion, it is releasing a set of non-fungible token (NFT) trading cards.
The NFT will feature “Final Fantasy VII,” and each pack is said to contain six physical versions of the trading cards and one NFT voucher. It was mentioned that the dropping of the digital tokens was first hinted at last year, and now Square Enix is finally rolling it out.
The entertainment firm announced the official launch of its Final Fantasy VII’s NFT trading card sets on Tuesday and revealed that it would include more than 200 artworks. The drop will allow fans to collect both tangible and digital versions. The game title being honored with NFT release was originally created by Square Enix for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation home video game console.
Crypto Files reported that the NFT trading cards are set to be sold in three rarity categories which are the Normal, Premium, and Secret. These will retail in boxes of 20 physical card packs, and each has six trading cards that were chosen at random from the more than 207 designs.
The boxes also have one exchange ticket that can be used to redeem an NFT trading card of chosen design. To claim the NFT, users must download the Enjin wallet app and register on the Enjin NFT platform. The digital cards are built on Efinity, a substrate-based blockchain for non-fungible tokens created by Enjin, which provides an array of integrated technologies that make it easy to have NFTs.
Meanwhile, Square Enix unveiled the NFT card collection that has been named the “Final Fantasy VII Anniversary Art Museum: Digital Card Plus.” Each pack of six cards will retail at ¥440 or about $3.30. For the box package that has 20 physical card packs, it can be pre-ordered for $79.80 at Square Enix’s store in North America.
The “Final Fantasy VII” NFT trading cards are set to be released on Friday, March 31.
