Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warrior, player, has released NFTs to mark his new three-point record at the National Basketball League. He broke the all-time three-point record and the 33-year-old basketball star is celebrating by offering non-fungible tokens.
Stephen Curry's new NFT release was surprising as he did it suddenly and his move also showed his deepening involvement in the NFT space. Moreover, observers commented that the debut of his own NFTs to commemorate his recent historic achievement in the NBA is a good decision.
Apparently, the surprise NFTs are going to be sold but it is not for personal profits as proceeds from the sale are going directly to Eat. Play. Learn, a foundation set up by Curry. The NBA star's digital assets will consist of artworks featuring the artists - Andrea McDonald and Floyd Norman.
McDonald is said to be a new college graduate who wants to be a company pilot while the latter is the first Black animator at Disney. A total of 2,974 Stephen Curry NFT pieces are going to be on the market.
Each of the digital assets will feature sketches of the player expressing various emotions while making the three-pointers. The historic moment when he achieved the new three-point record is also included in the NFT collection. Each piece will bear the details about the specific game and date of Curry's three-pointers.
When all of the 2,974 NFTs are sold, those who purchased a piece will also receive additional NFT designed by Floyd Norman and this is for free.
"I am truly grateful to be able to share this moment with all of the fans, the entire Bay Area community and everyone who has supported me throughout the years," Curry told Hypebeast. "This surprise NFT drop gives fans the chance to be a part of this historical moment, and to also continue this journey with me because this ride is far from over."
Meanwhile, aside from the surprise NFTs, Stephen Curry will also be giving away gifts to buyers at a later date. This may include tickets to games, autographed memorabilia, early access to limited items of the Curry Brand, and more.
"We are incredibly proud of Stephen for this amazing achievement," chief executive officer and president of Eat. Lear. Play, Chris Helfrich, said in a press release. "We are honored that these commemorative moments of Stephen's brilliant career will benefit Eat. Learn. Play., where the funds raised will go directly to support our foundation's work in improving the lives of children in underserved communities in the Bay Area and beyond."
