Netflix recently released the preview trailer for “Narcos” season 4. The trailer showcases the many visuals that fans can expect from the upcoming installment. To the delight of fans, the trailer's release also includes the announcement for “Narcos” season 4's premiere date on Netflix.
Pedro Pascal, who plays DEA Agent Javier Peña – a significant protagonist since the show's first season – is not featured in the “Narcos” season 4 trailer. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “Narcos” showrunner Eric Newman confirms that Pascal's Javier Peña will no longer be the focus of “Narcos” season 4. Fans can take note that the showrunner did not confirm nor deny that Pedro Pascal was going to appear in season 4 even in a cameo role.
Newman goes on to add that the decision to reset the cast for “Narcos” season 4 was an easy one to make. The show's creators want to focus on cocaine as the show's main element, with the different agents and drug personalities involved in the stories secondary in importance for the series. When asked if any familiar faces from “Narcos'” previous seasons will return, Newman mentions that fans can expect a wholly new group of cast members to be the show's focus with a little overlap from the show's previous cast.
Fans of the show can look forward to seeing Michael Peña, who also stars in Marvel's “Ant-Man,” and Diego Luna of “Rogue One” fame to be “Narcos” season 4's lead characters. Luna will be playing Felix Gallardo, the leader of the Guadalajara Cartel and founder of the modern Mexican drug trade. Michael Peña will be playing undercover DEA agent Kiki Camarena, who plays an important part in the eventual incarceration of the real-life Felix Gallardo.
Fans can look forward to more stories based on the history of the drug war when “Narcos” Season 4 returns on Netflix on Nov. 16. While essentially the fourth season of the series, the show will be stream on Netfilx as “Narcos: Mexico.”
