Nestle is reportedly investing in Wonder Group, a food delivery company, and this was revealed on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The startup that initially launched its business as a food truck will receive the cash fund from the Swiss food company, and this funding deal will make the companies an official business partners.
Now the plan is for Nestle and Wonder Group to jointly sell advanced kitchen equipment and food ingredients to other industries such as hospitals, hotels, and sports venues. As per CNBC, aside from the multi-million investment, the deal also includes future partnerships that will benefit their respective businesses.
Nestle’s Support Expected to Advance Wonder Group’s Biz
Nestle and Wonder Group did not mention other details of their deal but the latter’s founder, chairman, and chief executive officer, Marc Lore, said that the funding will push their company another step closer to reaching its objective of making it more affordable, faster, and easier for busy individuals and families to have high-quality food meals at home.
Lore further said In an interview with CNBC, that working with Nestle will certainly help Wonder Group to scale up the business more quickly. On the other hand, Nestle’s senior vice president of Nestlé Coffee Partners Solutions, Melissa Henshaw, said that many of their clients have difficulties keeping up with customers’ demands for convenient meals.
Answer to the Demand for High-Quality Easy-to-Prepare Meals
She explained that due to the lack of workers, they cannot make the products thus the partnership with the Wonder Group gives them the new opportunity to make flavorful meals and sell them to clients which in turn can serve them to customers in hotels and other establishments.
“With our partnership with Wonder, there’s this opportunity to help operators across multiple out-of-home segments be able to improve their food quality, have consistency, and actually open up some additional revenue streams that have been pretty challenged post-pandemic,” Henshaw said.
Meanwhile, BNN Network reported that as part of the deal, Nestle will be developing meals that are specially designed for Wonder Group’s high-tech kitchen equipment. Aside from selling the meals to the latter’s clients, these will also be offered to the broader food-service industry.
