Netflix does not intend to produce an app for Apple's forthcoming Vision Pro headset, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Netflix Will Not Offer The Apple Vision Pro App At Launch
Instead, the streaming service will be available via Safari and other web browsers on the headset. "Our members will be able to enjoy Netflix on the web browser on the Vision Pro, similar to how our members can on Macs," a Netflix spokesperson told Mark Gurman.
In a July 2023 edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that Netflix will "still allow its iPad app to run on the headset unmodified," but he now states that the streaming provider will not offer any apps on the Vision Pro at launch. Apple makes it simple for developers to migrate their iPadOS apps to visionOS, with over a million apps available on the Vision Pro's App Store at launch, but Netflix has clearly chosen out.
Apple just revealed that the Vision Pro will arrive with a variety of entertainment and sports applications, including Disney+, Discovery+, Max, Amazon Prime entertainment, Paramount+, Peacock, ESPN, MLB, and more. There is also an MLS Season Pass in the Apple TV App.
Apple Will Offer Vision Pro Demos Starting February 2
Apple wants to start offering Vision Pro demonstrations in the United States. Apple retail outlets will open on Friday, February 2, according to an email sent to select customers today. The official launch date for the Apple Vision Pro headset is February 2, as per MacRumors.
The demo sessions will be accessible in Apple retail shops around the United States. Apple said demo hours will be available throughout the weekend on a first-come, first-served basis, with signups beginning at 8:00 a.m. on February 2.
The available demo places are likely to fill up quickly, particularly in areas with a limited number of Apple Stores, so people interested in testing the headset should plan to sign up soon.
Apple intends to start accepting pre-orders for the Vision Pro on Friday, January 19, with deliveries beginning February 2. The headset will be sold throughout the U.S. Apple stores on February 2.
